Accounting Manager

Job Description:
The Accounting Manager is primarily responsible for overseeing the finance team, preparing bank reconciliations and general ledger account reconciliations and to facilitate the annual audit process and completion of financial statements.

Some of the responsibilities of this position include:

  • Directly supervises staff of 2-3 and ensures all requirements and deadlines are met.
  • Assists with cash flow forecasting and cash management.
  • Drives development and implementation of finance department’s polices and procedures.
  • Liaison with other department managers to determine the appropriateness of current procedures and processes, present recommendations and implement improvements.
  • Facilitate and review the completion of Financial Statements by managing the efforts of 2-3 accounting personnel.  Review all journal entries including, but not limited to cash entries, monthly revenue and expense accrual entries.
  • Coordinate Finance Department’s role in yearly audit by external auditors.  Work close with external auditors during entire audit to meet their needs and answer any questions they might have regarding the Financial Statements. 
  • Prepare bank reconciliations.
  • Reconciliation and verification of AR to GL, AP to GL.
  • Reconciliation of Inventory and WIP accounts to GL.
  • Assist the director of project management in tracking actual costs and forecasted costs to the project plans, prepare variance analyses and suggest mitigation strategies.
  • Serve as a back-up for the following:
    • A/R
    • Collections

Other duties as assigned.

Some of the requirements of this position are:

  • BA/BS in Accounting; CPA Preferred
  • Knowledge of general and cost accounting
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of accounting experience; experience reconciling bank accounts and GL accounts; supervisory experience a plus
  • Must be proficient in MS Office, Adobe Acrobat and integrated accounting software, Navision preferred.
  • Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.  Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact & diplomacy.
  • Some analytical ability is required in order to gather and summarize data for reports, find solutions and prioritize work.
  • Must be a self managed individual that can multi-task and work well with different personalities. 
  • Must be organized and work well under fast paced deadlines.
