Job Description:
The Network Systems Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and promoting the PPI Service Department Network Operations Center (NOC). This engineer specifies equipment that will maximize our ability to remotely monitor, diagnose, and resolve service issues in systems we design and install. He or she configures equipment as necessary during integration, trains PPI personnel in using the NOC, and acts as a networking advisor to the sales and technical teams.
Some of the responsibilities of this position include:
- Develop, test, and implement continuous improvements to the capabilities of the NOC.
- Research, test, and specify Service Standards for designing, integrating, and maintaining systems in accordance with internetworking best practices.
- Configure equipment during the integration phase for deployment on the NOC.
- Troubleshoot network problems remotely and on-site as necessary.
- Research, collect, and report information on new IT technology and its direct application to PPI’s core competencies.
- Specify the network topology for all PPI integration jobs to maximize use of PPI resources.
- Train PPI personnel in the employment of internetworking best practices and in the effective use of remote monitoring, remote diagnostics, and remote troubleshooting.
- Act as the PPI IT liaison to all clients’ IT support personnel to ensure smooth integration and servicing of systems.
- Act as IT advisor to PPI technical and sales personnel regarding the design, integration, and marketing of PPI systems.
- Perform general administrative, technical, and custodial duties associated with the duties outlined above.
- Other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate should have the following professional experience and personal attributes:
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience.
- Must be as skilled in dealing with people as he/she is in handling technology.
- Must be able to explain complex technical concepts in layman’s terms to foster confidence and trust with clients.
- Must be a highly motivated self-starter with exceptional organizational skills and must be able to multi-task.
- Must have extensive experience with SNMP monitoring applications and SQL.
- Cisco CCNA/CCNP certification will strongly distinguish a candidate, but is not required.
- A functional understanding of video and audio fundamentals (both analog and digital) will strongly distinguish a candidate, but is not required.
- Experience with MS Navision is preferred but is not required.
- Occasional short notice, short duration travel is required.
- Some lifting is required.
